National Horticulture
Mission is implemented in Andhra Pradesh to assist
/ help bridge the gap in investment and technology
for the sectors growth with the following objectives:
- To
provide holistic growth in horticulture through
research, technology
promotion, extension, processing and marketing.
- To enhance the horticulture production to the level of 300
million tones by 2011-12 and optimize agro climatic diversity
during the XI plan.
- To establish convergence and synergy among various on-going
and planned programmes in the field of horticulture
development
- To promote the development and dissemination of technologies
by blending traditional wisdom and frontier knowledge.
- On project based approach it plans to go in for Hi- tech
Horticulture and
precision farming.
- Converting waste lands for producing fruits and vegetables.
- Plans to plug wastage of horticulture produce including fruits,
vegetables, flowers, spices, coconut, cashew and medicinal
plants.
- To create facilities to process the horticulture production.
