- State Horticulture Mission in Andhra Pradesh was launched
on 3rd November 2005 by Hon’ble Chief
Minister of Andhra Pradesh with an outlay of Rs.
87.18 Crores to ensure holistic development of Horticulture
in twelve (12) focused districts for ten (10) focus
crops.
- State Horticulture Mission is emphasising on Production of
quality planting material, Production and productivity
improvement programmes, Post harvest management
and Marketing as important links.
- An amount of Rs. 44.21 Crores were released during the year
2005-06 out of which Rs.2137.97 lakhs was incurred
as expenditure for programme implementation covering
major components viz. Area expansion, Rejuvenation,
Organic farming, HRD trainings, Innovative schemes
like Farm mechanization, Awareness programmes and
Development of Model nurseries.
- An area of 18005 Ha were covered under Area expansion of
Perennial, Non-Perennial fruit crops, plantation
crops, loose flowers and spices involving an expenditure
of Rs.1433.58 lakhs.
- An area of 5515 Ha were covered under Rejuvenation of Old/Senile
orchards of Mango, Cashew and Citrus species involving
an expenditure of Rs.289.34 lakhs.
- Under Organic farming programme 339 Nos Vermicompost units
were established with an expenditure of Rs.35.17
lakhs.
- Under Human resource Management, 29100 farmers were imparted
training on different aspects in this sector including
exposure visits and 102 unemployed youth were given
gardeners training for livelihood involving an expenditure of Rs.84.14 lakhs.
- Under innovative schemes 16874 tools namely Sprayers, Harvesting
saws, Post harvest tools were handed over to farmers
involving an amount of Rs.185.69 lakhs.
- Awareness programmes like District level Horticulture shows
in 22 districts and Nursery mela were organized
for the benefit of farming community with an expenditure
of Rs.36.5 lakhs.
